COVID-19 Funeral Assistance

FEMA is providing COVID-19 funeral expense relief for expenses incurred after January 20, 2020. These funds are specifically for funerals of those who passed away from COVID-19. FEMA will begin accepting applications in April. Please see the link for more information on who is eligible, how to apply, and how funds will be received. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

There will be an election in Whitehall Township on May 4. Absentee ballot applications have been mailed out to everyone on the permanent list.  If you would like to be added to our list and automatically receive an application for every election, please email elections@whitehalltwp.org and let us know.  You can also go online and print an application at: https://www.michigan.gov/documents/sos/AVApp_535884_7.pdf

You can return your application by mail, or in person to our office using the dropbox outside, or you can take a photo and email it to: elections@whitehalltwp.org.

NOTICE is hereby given that any qualified elector of the County of Muskegon who is not already registered, may register to vote in the MICHIGAN SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY, MAY 4, 2021 at the office of their City or Township Clerk; the office of the County Clerk; office of the Secretary of State or at the office of a designated State Agency during their regular business hours. Registration forms can be obtained at www.michigan.gov/vote and mailed to the Township or City Clerk. Voters who are already registered may update their registration at www.expressSOS.com.

The last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the local clerk is Monday, April 19, 2021.

After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency (MCL 168.492) at the following:

2021 and running to the December 1, 2026 tax levy year (inclusive), which would raise in the first year of such levy, if collected in its entirety, an estimated revenue of $770,640.56 to be used for operating purposes? If approved, this would be a renewal of a previous millage.

Muskegon County COVID-19 Vaccine Information
COVID-19 Vaccination is underway in Muskegon County. Each one of you can assist in the process by helping share this information on your social media and with others in our community!
More people now eligible for COVID-19 vaccines
More Muskegon County residents are now eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccinations following a Wednesday announcement from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.   Vaccines in Muskegon County are being distributed in four phases as they become available. Muskegon County vaccine quantities are still limited and are being distributed as quickly as possible.   Public Health – Muskegon County will continue to prioritize available vaccines to those at greatest risk of COVID-19 exposure and negative health outcomes, Muskegon County Public Health Officer Kathy Moore said following Wednesday’s announcement.   “We are excited that more Muskegon County residents are now eligible to receive a vaccination,” said Moore. “We will continue to make sure our limited supply of vaccines gets into the arms of those most at risk as quickly as possible.”    Public Health – Muskegon County has been working with its partners to vaccinate Muskegon County residents covered in Phase 1A. Phase 1A includes paid and unpaid persons working in healthcare settings who have the potential for direct or indirect exposure to patients or infectious materials and are unable to work from home, as well as residents and workers in long term care facilities.   Wednesday’s announcement will allow vaccination to begin for those covered by Phase 1B and those 65 and older. Phase 1B also includes Muskegon County’s frontline essential workers, including first responders, frontline state and federal workers and jail and prison staff; and pre-K-12 teachers and childcare providers.   Anyone 65 and older are encouraged to take action by filling out the Public Health – Muskegon County Vaccination Request form at www.MaskUpMuskegon.org. This secure form will help streamline the vaccination process and help Public Health – Muskegon County identify eligible individuals when vaccines are available.   Vaccinations for other individuals eligible in Phases 1A and 1B will be coordinated through their employer. Those individuals DO NOT need to fill out the Vaccination Request form and should follow instructions provided to them by their employer.   Vaccinations for those not included in Phase 1A and 1B are expected to occur later in 2021. Information on the vaccination process can also be found at www.MaskUpMuskegon.org. Individuals can also sign up for vaccine news updates by visiting www.MaskUpMuskegon.org.   Ongoing vaccination information will also be distributed through the social media channels of Public Health – Muskegon County and HealthWest as well as local media. 
Are you 65 or older and want a vaccine? Let us know!
We need your help to make sure everyone who is eligible and wants a vaccine can receive one.   To streamline this process, Public Health – Muskegon County has created a secure form that will help identify those who are 65 and older and would like a vaccine. This form will collect basic information, such as name, contact info, and birthday, which will then be used by public health officials to coordinate and prioritize vaccinations.   If you are 65+ and would like a vaccine, please visit www.MaskUpMuskegon.org and fill out the Vaccine Request form.   Everyone is encouraged to share this information to ensure no one is left out of the vaccination process.

Real Identification Drivers License

It’s time to get REAL
A message from Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson

 

Your Michigan driver’s license or identification card may not get you through airport security later this year.

 

Oct. 1 is when the federal government will fully enforce the post-9/11 REAL ID Act, and standard state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards will no longer be accepted to board domestic flights within the United States, or when entering certain federal facilities, such as military bases or nuclear power plants.

 

Many people already have a REAL ID document, such as a valid U.S. passport, a DHS Trusted Traveler Card or an Enhanced Driver’s License. A full list of acceptable REAL ID documents is available at TSA.gov. Those who don’t can make their Michigan license or identification REAL ID-compliant by visiting a Secretary of State branch office and presenting the required documents. And, if you make an appointment, you’ll be in and out in 30 minutes or less.

 

Here’s what you need to do to get a REAL ID:

  • To schedule an appointment at one of our branch offices visit gov/SOSAppointments or calling 888-SOS-MICH. You can make your appointment at any branch in the state, and you don’t need to have a renewal mailer to do so. Some branches fill up fast, so book your appointment a few weeks in advance of when plan to travel. Your REAL ID license or state ID card will be mailed to you.
  • Bring your driver’s license or state identification card.
  • Bring your certified birth certificate, with a raised seal or stamp issued by a governmental agency; your valid, unexpired U.S. passport; or an approved citizenship or legal presence document. (Faxes and photocopies won’t be accepted.)
  • If your name differs from what is on your birth certificate, bring certified documents for every time your name has changed, such as marriage licenses or court orders.

 

There’s no additional fee to turn a license or state ID card into a standard REAL ID if it’s done during your normal renewal time; otherwise a duplicate card fee of $9 or $10 will be charged.
