My name is John Duff, and I am your new administrator of the Building Sewer Sanitation Department for Whitehall Township. We are excited and happy to welcome in new users into our systems. As this site is developed, in the future I hope to be able to add in a map showing areas of coverage and areas of targeted for future expansion. I will also add an area where our customers will be able to pay their sewer bills. Our sanitary waste sewers is supplied by the County of Muskegon. The system is a pass through system, whereas the county bills us and we roll the bill out to our users. Additionally we must add on a fee to cover maintenance, future growth, and a slight admin fee, which covers the cost of running the system.

Over the past eight years the township has absorbed the county annual cost increases. We can no longer afford to do this. Without an increase to our users, we would have to pull from our maintenance reserves to cover operations. We also incurred a significant maintenance cost for repairs to our lift station on Holton Whitehall Road, which placed a significant drain on our reserves. To continue to stay operational, we must increase our cost to all users. The rates being implemented are in line with the rates currently be charged to our neighboring communities. Effective on your July billing, your rates will increase from $96 per single residential unit to $133. This was not easy for us to do, although necessary to continue operations. Thank you for your understanding and please know we do all possible to hold down our cost as low as possible.

For those needing to hook into our system, please download the form below, fill out and return it to the Whitehall Township Hall. We are located at 7544 Durham Road, Whitehall, MI 49461. The Permit Fee is $125 per application, which is deducted from your total connection cost.
